Message from the Chief

Chief Barry Hale

I started my law enforcement career at the Jackson Police Department in 2002 after graduating from the Jackson Police Department Training Academy. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish. I started as a patrolman eventually working my way up to detective in the Vice/Narcotics Division. During my 20 year career in Jackson, I had the pleasure of working on several specialized units, the ATF/Gun Crimes Unit, D.A.R.T. Unit, Precinct Five and was promoted to Sergeant in 2014 (D.A.R.T., Vice/Narcotics, Patrol). I was promoted to Special Operations Commander (Traffic Unit, D.A.R.T. Unit, DUI Unit, Downtown Patrol) in 2021 before leaving to take a job as the Assistant Chief of the Gluckstadt Police Department in May of 2022. On October 09, 2023, I was chosen by the Mayor and Board of Alderman to be the Chief of Police at the Gluckstadt Police Department.

I am honored and excited to be selected as the next Chief of Police for the Gluckstadt Police Department. On behalf of the men and women at the Gluckstadt Police Department, I want to welcome you to our website. Our officers and I are committed to the safety and well-being of those that visit, work, and live within this great community. The police department is committed as well as dedicated to being actively engaged and constantly striving to ensure your safety and care.

I am very proud of the officers we have on our staff and continually encourage them to seek all the training that will benefit their careers as well as benefit the department and our city. Through training and experience your police department provides an exceptional level of service. We also understand that community partnerships are essential to our ongoing success. We will continue to strive and work hard toward finding new ways to connect and engage with all our citizens and to let our citizens know that community policing is at the forefront of our efforts.

We look forward to the future and the challenges that are ahead of us. I welcome any comments or feedback at any time and if there is anything I can assist you with please call the police department to schedule an appointment to meet.

Sincerely,

Chief Barry W. Hale
